Ghana will once again take its place on the global parliamentary stage as Titus Owusu Darko prepares to represent the nation at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)’s 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament, scheduled to take place in New South Wales, specifically Sydney.
Titus Owusu Darko’s selection follows his outstanding leadership in guiding University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) to victory in the 2026 Commonwealth Day National Debate, held in the Parliament House of Ghana.
UniMAC’s historic win came after a series of compelling rounds that saw them triumph over formidable debating giants including University of Ghana (UG), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), University for Development Studies (UDS), and Central University.
Jointly representing Ghana on this prestigious international assignment is subordinate speaker Precious Akos Agrobesa, who also distinguished herself during the national competition. Together, the pair will join youth parliamentarians from across the Commonwealth to deliberate on global governance issues, explore democratic processes, and simulate parliamentary debates under the guidance of seasoned lawmakers.
The Commonwealth Youth Parliament is widely regarded as one of the most experiential political immersion platforms for young leaders, offering participants exposure to legislative procedures, diplomacy, and policy formulation. This year’s edition in Australia is expected to place strong emphasis on climate action, youth participation in governance, and economic resilience across member states.
Speaking ahead of his departure, Titus expressed gratitude for the opportunity and reaffirmed his commitment to “representing Ghana with integrity, intellect, and the progressive spirit of its youth.” Precious Akos Agrobesa also noted that the platform will provide “a deeper understanding of parliamentary democracy and an avenue to amplify the concerns of young Africans.”
Their participation marks another significant milestone for Ghana’s youth leadership development and underscores the nation’s growing presence in Commonwealth civic engagement initiatives.
Both representatives together with the coordinator of student parliaments at the Parliament of Ghana’s Public Engagement Department, Mr. Ahmed Mustapha, are expected to depart Accra later this year as preparations intensify for the convening of the 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament in Sydney.
The Ghanaian delegation is optimistic that their contributions will enrich discussions and further elevate the country’s profile within the Commonwealth bloc.
