The Jospong Group of Companies has joined the nation in the mourning of the eight persons who perished in the helicopter crash accident in the Ashanti Region.
The eight, which included two cabinet ministers, died tragedly after a military helicopter in which they were travelling for an event on responsible mining crashed in a forest near Adansi Akrofuom.
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, named the victims involved in the crash as Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad, Samuel Sarpong, Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen (Amaning) Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The bodies have since been conveyed to Accra for DNA testing to aid identification and subsequent burial.
The tragedy has led to a national mourning with flag flying at half mast.
The Jospong Group in a released signed by its Executive Chairman, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong, described the tragedy as ‘heartbreaking’ and hence extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of the dead and the entire nation.
“This is a heartbreaking loss – to their families, to the Government, and to the Nation they served with honour and distinction. Ghana has lost true patriots…,” the company said.
Dr. Siaw Agyapong, on behalf of the entire Jospong Group, extended the group’s condolences to the bereaved families.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May their souls find perfect peace,” he said.
