Some concerned staff of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has thrown their support behind the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the agency over her recent actions at the agency.

Prof Nana Ama Klutse has been at the receiving end of a barage of attacks for reassigning several staff of the agency.

In a formal internal communication dated 26th June 2025, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of EPA, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse disclosed that the decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including the EPA Staff Association (EPASA) and the local branch of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), as well as a detailed internal review of the Authority’s current structure and operational dynamics.

Under the new directive, several staff members have been reassigned to new roles across various areas and regional offices, with a firm reporting deadline of 24th July 2025.

“This organisational reset is a critical component of our broader strategy to build a responsive, efficient, and accountable EPA that is fit for purpose and capable of delivering on its mandate,” the statement read.

The Public Service Workers Union (PSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), which has not been enthused about the transfer, has questioned the move describing it as ‘a move which lacked extensive consultations’.

“We wish to firmly state that the claim in the letter that “extensive consultations were held with the Union, and the EPASSA is not accurate. At no point were concerning this major human resource action.

This misrepresentation undermines the
principles of collaboration and trust that should underpin staff-management relations within
either the PSWU-TUC or EPASSA adequately engaged in a consultative process or meeting
the EPA…” a statement from them read in part.

However, some concerned staff of EPA have praised Prof Brwone Klutse for the move, stating that it’s the right path for the growth of the government agency.

The Concerned Staff noted that the statement regarding the recent staff reassignment exercise issued by the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU-TUC, EPA Division) and the EPA Senior Staff Association (EPASSA) “is not only misleading and divisive, but also undermines the progressive reforms currently being implemented under the visionary leadership of the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO).”

They therefore urged the public to disregard the misleading statement and rather support the good work of Prof Browne Klutse.
