Rapper King Paluta admitted to taking money from the New Patriotic Party flagbearer in the 2024 December general elections, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

His admission follows a backlash he received over his recent comments on Twitter where he suggested that influencers are being paid to promote certain artists.

In the said Twitter post, King Paluta expressed disappointment that a fan who had previously supported him for Artiste of the Year (AOTY) had suddenly changed stance.

His tweet implied that some Twitter influencers were financially influenced to promote certain artistes over others.

I’ve seen one guy who was supporting me heavily. Even last week… Every time Paluta for AOTY. Yesterday, make I go see aa, he say I no dey deserve the award again. Every Twitter influencer on the payroll already?? Lol Ghana Music, wake up! (in Wendy Shay’s voice), King Paluta wrote in pigin.

However, netizens were quick to call him out, accusing him of engaging in the same practice during the 2024 general elections.

One user replied Paluta, saying, You took big money from politicians during the election era, and you’re here complaining about influencers taking money to support others? You should understand that this is how it works. You pay, you get served. Simple.

In response, King Paluta confirmed taking money from Bawumia, stating: The money I took from Baweezy deɛ, e really pain boys.

His admission reignited speculations that he was paid heavily to associate with the Bawumia-led NPP campaign.

During the 2024 elections, he was seen in the company of then flagbearer Dr Bawumia, where he shared the stage with party executives at some rallies.

While King Paluta has not disclosed the amount he received, his confirmation has sparked debates about musicians and their involvement in political endorsements.
