Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, has strongly refuted claims published by The Insight Newspaper alleging that she has abandoned Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to support Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the former MP described the publication as “false, misleading, and maliciously fabricated”, stressing that it was aimed at creating disaffection and confusion within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and among her supporters.

“I wish to categorically and unequivocally deny this claim as false, misleading, and maliciously fabricated to create disaffection and confusion within the rank and file of the NPP and among my supporters,” she said.

Hon. Adwoa Safo clarified that she has never made any statement—public or private—suggesting a withdrawal of support for Dr. Bawumia, whom she described as a proven and visionary leader.

“At no point in time have I made any statement, whether on record, in private conversation, or on any public platform, suggesting that I have withdrawn my support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” she stated.

She reaffirmed her loyalty to Dr. Bawumia, commending his leadership qualities and resilience.

“I remain firmly loyal to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and fully committed to his vision for our party and for Ghana. Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated exceptional leadership, humility, competence, and resilience even in the face of adversity,” she said, adding that she believes he is the best person to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections.

Hon. Safo also cautioned against efforts to blame individuals for the NPP’s performance in the 2024 elections, saying such actions only distract from rebuilding efforts.

“Leadership transitions often come with challenges, but assigning blame to one individual for our 2024 electoral outcome is neither fair nor productive,” she noted.

The former Gender Minister called on The Insight Newspaper to retract the publication and issue an unqualified apology, urging the media to uphold professionalism and accuracy in political reporting.

“Responsible journalism demands fairness, accuracy, and truth, principles that must not be compromised for sensational headlines,” she added.

Hon. Adwoa Safo concluded by reaffirming her commitment to party unity and victory in 2028, pledging to continue supporting Dr. Bawumia’s efforts to strengthen the NPP and restore public confidence.

“The unity and progress of the NPP remain paramount, and I continue to pledge my unflinching support to Dr. Bawumia and to every effort aimed at consolidating the party’s base and preparing adequately for victory in 2028,” she affirmed.
