The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed reports circulating on social media, claiming that the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) was attacked in Bawku.
GAF reiterated its denial, stating that COAS, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, was never attacked as alleged.
In a statement, it noted that “GAF wishes to state that the content of the said videos are false and should be treated with the contempt that they deserve.”
The statement clarified that the COAS’s operational visit to the Bawku enclave was successful and that no negative incident occurred.
According to GAF, efforts are underway to identify the originators of the video so they can be brought to justice.
GAF, therefore, cautions bloggers, content creators and the media at large, to be circumspect in their reportage on the Bawku incident particularly those involved in its operations.
This, it stressed would help to avoid worsening the security situation in the area through misinformation.
