2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made a passionate donation of GH₵410,000 to the 2024 Ablekuma North Parliamentary Candidate, Amb. Akua Owusu Afriyie.
This is to support her campaign ahead of Friday,11 July,2024 rerun of elections in 19 polling stations in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The support from Dr. Bawumia comes after an application seeking to temporarily prevent the Electoral Commission (EC) from re-running elections at 19 out of 281 polling stations in the Ablekuma North Constituency was dismissed by the High Court in Accra.
The ex-parte application was filed by Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Ablekuma North Constituency in the 2024 election.
On July 2, the EC fixed July 11 as the date for a re-run of the parliamentary election in 19 polling stations in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The NPP has since rejected the decision but after the court ruling on Thursday,9 July,2025, campaign has resumed and both candidates are seen canvassing for votes.
Dr. Bawumia is of the firm belief that, Hon. Akua Afriyie would emerge victorious at the end of the polls and charged the party to support the cause.
