The High Court has significantly reduced the prison sentence of Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, from 15 years to one (1) year.
The self-styled prophetess, who was originally handed a 15-year sentence with hard labour in July 2025, will now serve just one year in custody.
The ruling follows a successful appeal by her legal team, who argued that the initial sentence for charges of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences was “excessive and unjust.”
Background of the Case
The founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry was convicted last year after a trial centred on a 2022 incident.
Prosecutors alleged that Agradaa used her media platforms to invite the public to an all-night service, promising to supernaturally multiply cash offerings—a scheme that left many congregants stranded and defrauded.
While the trial judge, Her Honour Evelyn Asamoah, originally described the acts as “premeditated and without remorse,” the appellate court took a different view regarding the proportionality of the punishment.
