Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, one of the leading flagbearer hopefuls, has sent a strong message to party delegates. In a candid address at Manso Adubia in the Ashanti Region on January 20, Bawumia warned delegates about a concerted campaign of personal attacks and falsehoods directed at him by his rivals.

In his speech, Bawumia shared that intelligence gathered by his team indicated that some opponents were preparing to launch a series of personal assaults and spread misinformation in the final weeks of the campaign. With just two weeks remaining until the primary, Bawumia expressed concern that these tactics would escalate as rivals sought to undermine his credibility in a bid to sway delegates’ opinions.

“We are going to hear a lot of lies in the coming days,” Bawumia told the crowd. “My opponents are attempting to distract you from the real issues by resorting to insults. But I urge you all to stay focused on the bigger picture — the vision for our party and our country.”

Bawumia made it clear that the flagbearer race should not descend into a battle of insults and personal attacks. He believes such tactics are a sign of desperation, noting that the focus should be on ideas, policies, and leadership qualities. According to him, those who resort to negativity are not offering any substantial vision or solutions but are instead seeking to tear down their opponents to win votes.

Bawumia said, “If you miss the ball, don’t miss the man,” implying that his rivals were targeting him personally because they could not match his track record and policy proposals. He also pointed out that the smears were designed to divert attention from the core issues that mattered most to the party and the nation at large.

Despite the growing pressure and negativity from his opponents, Bawumia exuded confidence, stressing that he would not be distracted by the lies and insults. He assured delegates that his campaign remained focused on promoting a positive agenda and that he would continue to campaign with integrity, centered on merit and vision for the future of the country.

“I am focused on victory,” he said, reiterating his commitment to a campaign rooted in solutions and national progress. “I have no time for insults. I have no time for distractions. We are here to win, and we will win by sticking to the issues that matter.”

Bawumia concluded his speech by urging delegates to remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of voting for a candidate who embodies competence, vision, and a proven track record. “Don’t be swayed by lies,” he urged. “Go out there and vote for me, because I am the candidate who will lead this party to victory in 2024.”
