Veteran journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has claimed that the 2024 general election has exposed the true nature of some individuals posing as men of God in Ghana.
Speaking on Metro TV, on Monday, December 16, 2024, Mr. Pratt described these so-called pastors as criminals who exploit elections for personal gain.
He cautioned Ghanaians to steer clear of such figures.
“Something else has become very, very clear, which is that many of the people who pretend they have direct connections with God, claiming that God calls them on the telephone every morning, are absolute criminals and gangsters. The election results have made that abundantly clear,” Pratt stated.
He continued, “These gangsters in cassocks, waving horse tails and other items, are nothing but bloody criminals profiting from elections. This election has exposed them big time. I hope we will learn from this and start treating these soothsayers as they deserve. They are not spiritual leaders but mere fraudsters. Those who rely on them for medical reasons or financial prosperity should rethink their choices.”
Pratt further criticized a pastor who made a bold declaration before the elections.
“One of them actually said that if Dr. Bawumia didn’t win the election, she would return to worshipping her fetish idol. I’m still waiting to see if she will follow through,” he remarked.
In the lead-up to the elections, several pastors claimed to have received divine revelations that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) would secure victory in both the presidential and parliamentary contests. However, the results told a different story.
The NPP suffered a resounding defeat, losing the presidential election to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by over 1.6 million votes.
Additionally, the party lost more than 50 parliamentary seats to the NDC, further solidifying the opposition’s dominance.
Mr. Pratt concluded by urging Ghanaians to be cautious of individuals who use religion as a cover for deceit and criminal activities, especially in matters as critical as elections.
